Not every beautiful place announces itself. This farmhouse, at the end of a long dirt track with a split-rail fence on either side, makes no claims and no concessions. It is simply there solid, dark, patient, entirely itself.
They found it on a wrong turn on a summer afternoon. He drew it while she sat on the fence and read. When he finished she looked at the drawing and said: that is exactly what contentment looks like.
