Camille read the way other people breathe constantly, without thinking about it. The bookshops of Paris were her natural habitat. He followed her into all of them and drew what he saw.
What he saw, on this particular afternoon, was a ginger cat presiding over the bookshop with the quiet authority of someone who has been here longer than any of the customers and intends to stay longer still. The wine was already poured. The books were already read. The cat had opinions about all of them.
