The story behind this piece

A pink building smothered in climbing roses above an arched doorway the door open just enough to suggest an invitation. Terracotta pots either side. She stood here for a very long time.

She had a habit of stopping in front of flower-covered doorways. She would stand there for a long time without saying anything. He learned to stop with her. These drawings are the doors she stopped at and the silence they shared in front of them.

This doorway, on a quiet street in the 6th arrondissement, stopped her completely. The roses had claimed the entire façade pink blooms cascading from every surface, the arch framing a door that stood slightly open as if someone inside had just heard them arrive.
