Midsummer in Paris is a riot of colour the flower boxes overflow, the awnings are at full stretch, the stone of the buildings picks up the heat and glows. On this particular street, with the tower visible at the far end, the effect is almost unreal.
Camille stopped and said: it looks like a painting already. He took out his sketchbook anyway. The result is the boldest, most vivid piece in the entire gallery a celebration of Paris at its most alive.
