Vintage cars parked along a sun-drenched Parisian kerb, a red awning folded in the afternoon warmth, wooden chairs arranged for a lunch not yet begun. Paris as it once was and somehow still is.
There are streets in Paris where time moves differently where the cars parked at the kerb look like they belong to another era, where the awning is the same red it has always been, where the chairs are set out each morning with the same care as they were fifty years ago.
Étienne painted this from an old photograph and his own long memory of streets like this one quiet, warm, and full of the particular dignity of a city that does not feel the need to explain itself.
