A tufted blush velvet sofa beneath a tall French window cherry blossom branches reaching in from outside, the Seine and Eiffel Tower visible beyond the iron balcony. The most romantic interior Étienne has ever painted.

There was one week in spring when the cherry blossom outside their window was so abundant it felt like the apartment itself was blooming. The pink sofa, the blossoms reaching in through the open window, the tower and the river beyond everything was soft and perfect and impossible to improve upon.

He painted it in a single sitting. She came home and said: that is exactly what it looks like. That is exactly how it feels.
