A round red table, two blue chairs, a pot of red geraniums glowing in the morning light and through the open window, the perfectly rendered mansard roofline of the building opposite.
There were mornings when the apartment felt like the whole world. The geraniums on the windowsill, the blue chairs pulled up to the red table, the rooftops of Paris framed by the curtains like a painting within a painting.
She always watered the geraniums first thing. He always drew them while she did.
