A single lamppost glows against a purple evening sky red-leafed trees lining an empty boulevard, parked cars along the kerb, a pink shopfront glowing softly at the end of the street.
This is the quieter of the November boulevard pieces less cinematic than the Crimson Boulevard, more intimate, more observed. The street is almost empty. The lamppost has just come on. The trees are at their most red.
He painted this one from memory after a long November walk alone the kind of walk you take when you need to think, when the city feels like company enough. The street was exactly like this. The lamp was exactly this colour. The trees were exactly this red.
